Paintbox

My sweet little granddaughter was over a couple of days ago.   She loves spending time at Meme’s house.   So we put on her paint shirt and let her paint.  These little ones are always so free about how they do art and they are always so proud of every creation.  We need to be more like them.

Self portrait

I have very few pictures of myself.  After I leave this world, years later, my children will not even remember what I looked like because there are so few pictures of me.  My youngest daughter, on the other hand, her children will have LOTS of pictures to remember her by.  She has always been interested in photography and up until a couple of years ago, her favorite subject was herself.  Of course, that was back when she was a little wisp of a girl and now she is all grown up.  If she reads this, she will swear I am becoming senile and don’t know what I’m talking about.  So learning from her, I took the camera outside today.  There was some amazing light going on but it’s really hard to get a decent shot holding the camera.  Next time, I’ll have to use my tripod.  Oh, and next time I’ll put a little makeup on, too.

Have a happy day!

Grave Walker

Here is my most recent painting.  I’m trying very hard to enjoy the process and not be so hung up on how the finished product turns out.  I learned a lot on this one.  I was very pleased with how it turned out all the way up until I put the beeswax on.  When I went to smooth out the wax with a hot iron, it made some of my colors run in a couple of places.  I’m not sure what I did wrong but I will know to be more careful on my next project.

“Grave Walker”

This is a canvas board with watercolor, acrylics, collage, oil pastels, and beeswax. This was inspired by my interest in collecting family history and strolling in cemeteries, photographing headstone. The style was inspired by Wyanne.  I love her trees and wanted to do one simlar to hers.  Her art work is amazing.

Here is a sketch of my next project:

Wishing you a peaceful evening.

Artist Date!

I’ve picked up The Artist’s Way again and decided to take myself on an artist date this morning.  It was a pretty morning with good light, so I went to the Unity Village, the world headquarters for the Unity Church.  It’s a beautiful place with wonderful architecture.  Here are a few photos from my walk around the grounds:

This last picture is the Peace Chapel.
It’s a wonderful place to go to pray or meditate or just sit in the quiet.

Wishing you a peaceful, day.

My husband and I decided to sit this one out for a change.   I worked on my painting while he watched a movie.  Then we met in the backyard with a pitcher of pina coladas and soaked in the hot tub while watching the fireworks in the sky.   I didnt miss all the hoopla one bit.   I did miss these babes, however.  These are two of my darling grandbabies. taken last year on the 4th of July.

I finished my painting and I am quite pleased.  I’ll post it tomorrow when I can take a photo in the daylight.

I pray you had a peaceful evening.
